The Intake Process

  1. Initial Call – When you call the school, the Director will complete an initial intake form and set an appointment for you to tour the school.
  2. The Tour – During the tour you will have plenty of time to ask questions and receive an application packet.
  3. Clinical Visit – After you return the application packet with a $500 application fee, a family consultant will call you to schedule a clinical visit, without your child.  During this visit, test results, professional assessments, report cards, health records and any other relevant information about your child will be discussed.
  4. Observation – If appropriate, the Harris School teacher arranges to observe your child in his or her current school placement.
  5. Child Visit – A visit is arranged with your child, The Harris School teacher and the family consultant. The teacher will engage your child in a short activity (a play activity for the young child; an academic activity for the older child).
  6. Decision – The Director, the Family Consultant and the teacher meet to discuss your child.  If it is determined that the school’s program could be helpful to your child, a transition plan is created, including a start date!
